Every good story has a spark of real life behind it, and the story of Ginger is no exception. Before she became a character on a page, Ginger was a living, breathing, and incredibly loved member of our family. She was a beautiful Jack Russell Terrier, and from the moment she joined our household, she brought a special kind of magic with her.
But out of everyone in the family, Ginger chose a favorite. That favorite was my grandson, Trent.
A Bond Like No Other
From the time Trent was six years old, when we got her, he and Ginger were completely inseparable. They had a bond that was quiet, deep, and understood completely without words. Watching them grow up together inspired me to capture their adventures on paper.

Saying a Hard Goodbye
As the years passed, Ginger remained healthy and energetic until one day at 11 years of age, she got sick. It happened so quickly, but soon, our family had to face the hardest part of owning a pet, which is saying goodbye. Watching Trent navigate that deep, quiet grief was heartbreaking, but it also showed me the incredible resilience of a child's heart.
I have written this book to honor the legacy of our sweet dog and to keep her memory alive for Trent and our family. But more than that, I have written it for any child who has ever had to say goodbye to a furry best friend. My hope is that when families read Ginger's story together, children feel comforted, their big feelings are validated, and they are reminded that the love a pet leaves behind stays in our hearts forever.
